SMOKE TESTING FOR SEWER LINES

SMOKE TESTING FOR SEWER LINES The City of Franklin Springs will be conducting a smoke test of the sanitary sewer lines. The testing will take place February 8th thru 12th. The purpose of the test is to locate places where excess water is entering the sewer system during a rain event. In the days prior to the testing, please make sure to run water into all sinks, tubs, and floor drains, especially if they are not frequently used, to fill the plumbing “P-Traps”. Be advised that you will see smoke coming from the sewer vents of your buildings and this is normal during the smoke testing in your area. There should not be smoke inside the buildings. If smoke does enter, it indicates a problem with your plumbing inside. Run water to flush the drain lines to clear the smoke. Be advised that the smoke itself is NOT HARMFUL. Smoke will also be visible in streets and yards along the sewer lines right-of-way. If you have any questions, please call Franklin Springs City Hall at 706-245-6957.
